Certain countries may have requirements to protect both individual travellers and countries from the risk of importing or spreading the yellow fever virus. If these requirements apply to the country to which you will be travelling, you may need a document called the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis as proof of vaccination. You can obtain the required vaccine and the documentation at a yellow fever vaccination centre. If you do not show a valid certificate when requested at the border, you may not be allowed to enter the country, you may be quarantined for up to six days or put under medical surveillance, or you may be required to be vaccinated at point of entry. A list of yellow fever vaccination country entry requirements is available from the World Health Organization. To obtain additional entry requirements contact the diplomatic or consular office of the countries you are planning to visit.

Who will be conducting my travel consultation?2023-07-18T15:48:57-05:00

A qualified pharmacist will be conducting your travel consultation at our travel clinic. We believe that a pharmacist is the ideal healthcare professional to provide travel health services. Pharmacists have specialized knowledge of medications and their interactions, which is crucial in providing advice and recommendations for safe and effective travel health management. They can also identify potential drug interactions with other medications you may be taking and tailor advice based on your individual health history, including any pre-existing medical conditions.

While nurses are also qualified to provide travel consultations, we believe that our pharmacists’ specialized training and knowledge make them the best choice for your travel health needs.

Yes, please bring any relevant medical records or documentation that you have, including your vaccination record, travel itinerary, and any medications or supplements you are currently taking. This information will help our pharmacist to provide you with the most personalized and effective recommendations for your travel health needs. Additionally, it may be helpful to bring a list of any questions or concerns that you have, so that we can address them during your consultation.

Are there any forms to complete before my appointment?2023-07-18T15:49:11-05:00

Yes, there is a travel consultation form that we ask you to complete before your appointment. When should I get my travel vaccines?2023-07-18T15:49:19-05:00

It’s recommended that you get your travel vaccines at least 4-6 weeks before your departure to allow enough time for immunity to develop.

If you are traveling in less than 4-6 weeks, don’t worry! It’s still possible to receive some travel vaccines and benefit from them. Some vaccines, such as hepatitis A and B, can provide protection even with a single dose. However, it’s important to speak with our pharmacists to assess your specific situation and to determine which vaccines are most important to receive. We will do our best to ensure that you receive the most effective protection for your trip.
